When we intentionally invest our attention, energy, and effort in certain areas of practice, we are able to create an experience of life that honors who and what we really are.

I call these areas of practice the cornerstones.

I refer to this process as remembering.
— Drew Assini, MA

The Cornerstones serve as the foundational areas of focus for The GROW Program and the process of remembering.

When we regularly invest in these four areas, we create a solid foundation for authentic & conscious living.

First Cornerstone

Mindfulness & Meditation Practice

The first Cornerstone focuses on regularly investing in a variety of mindful and meditative activities, practices, and behaviors (e.g., yoga class, formal meditation practice, mindfully washing dishes or folding laundry). By incorporating more and more mindfulness into our lives, things tends to slow down a bit and our ability to respond consciously to life increases.

Second Cornerstone

Journaling & Stalking Practice

The second area of focus consists of taking “field notes” about our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors as we move through our day. By “stalking” our personal inner-world, we’re able to see aspects of our experience that might otherwise go unnoticed. Over time we’re also able to notice trends, patterns, and themes in how we live our lives.

Third Cornerstone

Community Cultivation Practice

In the third Cornerstone, we focus our attention and energy on investing in relationships with like-minded and like-hearted individuals. As we build community, we find encouragement and support for a more authentic and consciously-lived life.

Fourth Cornerstone

Self-Care & Self-Celebration Practice

The last of the four Cornerstones is focused on taking care of ourselves and celebrating our progress. When we regularly meet our needs, we increase our ability to show up more fully and authentically in our lives. And when we experience moments of growth and big wins, we intentionally celebrate them to reinforce our efforts.

The Cornerstones provided me with a base to begin walking through fear so I could create the next chapter of my life.

As I invested in the Cornerstones, I became more aware and observant of my thoughts and started spending less time and energy being sucked into “thought blackholes.” I started to learn how to “kung fu” my thoughts. And I spent more time giving myself kudos for the work I was doing.

The Cornerstones helped me fine tune the communication I have with myself and navigate my emotions and internal experience in a way that I never knew was possible.
